Conducted annually, the program recognizes outstanding design achievement in projects in Connecticut and by Connecticut architects. e AIA/CT awards include both commer- cial and residential projects, encompassing 25 works submitted for consideration in 2018. As they oen do, New Haven-area architects predominated among winning projects in both categories. Among 11 winning projects in the Commercial, Industrial, Educational or Multi-Family category, eight are the work of New Haven architects and architecture firms. ese include: Newman Architects, Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, Pickard Chilton and Turner Brooks Architect, all based in New Haven. Jurors for the 2018 program included: Ste- phen White, AIA, dean and professor, Roger Williams University School of Architecture, Art and Historic Preservation in Bristol, R.I.; Celia Imrey of the Imrey Studio Planning & Design, New York, N.Y.; and Robert Gurney, FAIA, Robert Gurney Architect, Washing- ton, D.C. e trio adjudicated 13 projects for Excellence awards and 12 projects for Merit awards from a pool of 140 submissions.
