Democrat Ned Lamont won the governorship by a 53-47 percent margin over Republican Bob Stefanowski. Yale New Haven Health System in September announced plans to acquire Milford Hospital. United Technologies Corp. in November closed its $30 billion acquisition of Iowa-based aviation manufacturer Rockwell Collins Inc., and announced plans to split into three separate companies. In November, CVS Health completed its $69 billion purchase of Aetna. Aetna will remain headquartered in Hartford. Cigna is in the process of completing its $67 billion acquisition of pharmacy-benefits manager Express Scripts.
