20 | HARTFORD BUSINESS JOURNAL • DECEMBER 24, 2018 There is a formula for success when it comes to building and maintaining heating and cooling, process piping and fire protection systems for 55 years. That winning recipe is consistency and honesty — especially for a third generation family owned business like Crest Mechanical Services of Hartford. Founded in 1964, we assist general contractors and facility owners with commercial projects anywhere in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Western Massachusetts including ductwork, welding, piping and fire protection work — and much, much more. Plainly speaking, we really know what we're doing when it comes to serving our customers and our employees. And what sets us apart in this crowded and competitive business IS our employees. We believe we have some of the most knowledgeable, honest, and dedicated workers in this field. The challenge looking ahead is a different kind of pipeline: replacing skilled workers. There is a dearth of skilled labor, no doubt about it. We are helping to train the up and coming workforce but the current pool of skilled workers is retiring faster than they can be replaced. But with an excellent in-house training program we continue to serve our customers with first-quality workers. Building motivates us — there is such a creative aspect to what we do. To build a mechanical system that not only works well but is a work of art is something else we take pride in. We love to build show pieces in boiler rooms, piping systems, and medical gas systems. Again, excellence is what we strive for. Our community inspires us and we are proud to give back. We donate services and financial resources to Hartford City Mission, a nonprofit that is working to improve the lives of children in Hartford's North End. Perhaps opening up our hearts and company, will inspire them to take up a trade and keep building to improve even more communities — and other people's lives. Our mission each and every day is to treat our customers with respect and honesty, delivering results that exceed their expectations. What matters most to our clients is not only quality work, but timely work. Quality is a given but meeting delivery dates can be a challenge when you are depending on other trade companies to finish their respective tasks. But our reputation of getting the job done and getting it done right and on time precedes us. And that is the best marketing tool that money can buy. When you are consistent with your quality and building jobs like we are, the word gets out from one facility manager to another and from one general contractor to another. That's why our phones keep ringing after 55 years.
