The former Rufus Deering Lumber site will be rede- veloped by Reger Dasco Properties with a 139- room hotel and condomin- ium complex. It's part of a flurry of redevelopment along Portland's waterfront. This medical office building, developed by Priority Real Estate Group LLC President and CEO Jim Howard, was considered a great investment-grade property for its excellent condition and long-term tenants. Thad Paul, founder and CEO of a Washington, D.C.-based real estate firm, the Wardman Group, purchased the 60-year- old Ocean Gate Resort to take advantage of the Boothbay region's grow- ing visitor market. Called Washington on Park, this property with 30 apartments and ground- floor retail space was developer Bob Smith's 70th project in the Bath area over three decades. At the time of its sale, it was believed that River Place was sold at the highest price per unit of any residential develop- ment of its size in Maine. Developer Howard A. Goldenfarb, president of RAM Cos., is credited with igniting redevelopment of Portland's Old Port district in the 1970s. C O N T I N U E D O N P A G E 8 4 ยป
