SOURCES: U.S. Green Building Council, as of Nov. 20, 2018, company websites and press releases Colby College has 16 LEED certified buildings and two — the new Alfond Commons building (silver) and the under-construction athletic complex (gold) — pursuing certification. There are 227 LEED certified or registered buildings in Maine, totalling 6.655 square feet, according to the Green Building Information Gateway. Falmouth Elementary School, completed in 2018, in the most recent public school to be LEED certified in Maine — the first was East End Elementary School in Portland, completed in 2006. The 120,000-square- foot ultra-modern Capital Judicial Center project in Augusta also included renovation of the Kennebec County Superior Court building, constructed in 1830. Besides incorporating the LEED process into all new buildings, Bowdoin College is also building four passive house- constructed dormitories.
