Five cents from every iced coffee bought in August at a Cumberland Farms in Massachu- setts or Rhode Island was donated. New England Center for Children educator of the year The New England Center for Children in Southborough, which serves children with autism, has named Jacquelyn MacDonald its educator of the year. The NECC gives the award to an educator it believes exemplifies commitment, leadership and excellence. MacDonald is an assistant professor and graduate program director of applied behavior analysis at Regis College. She also founded the Autism Center at Regis and co-hosts a podcast about applied behavior analysis and related research. Vincent Strully, NECC's president and CEO, said MacDonald has transformed the lives of children and influenced teachers she's trained to spread the benefits of applied behavior analysis. People, places and happenings in Central Massachusetts Heywood Healthcare honors physician Heywood Healthcare awarded physician Daniel Ervin with its James A. Faust Pillar Award for Physician Excellence, which it gives each year to a physician who best reflects the company's six pillars: people, quality, service, stewardship, growth and community. Ervin has been part of the Heywood medical staff for 23 years and is a well-known fixture in the community, serving as one of the only otolaryngologists, or ear, nose and throat doctors, in the area.
