It wasn't an easy task, consider- ing the company had to enact it in its corporate office, distribution center and 131 stores. But it was important to create a wellness program available to all employees. And over the past year, the company has built strong community part- nerships through the program. Community service can coin- cide with physical health, which is evident within Ocean State Job Lot's Choose Well program. The company has been the presenting sponsor at the PurpleStride Pancreatic Cancer Action Network walk in Rhode Island for the last couple of years. This year the company is expanding its participation to include the Con- necticut and Boston PurpleStride walks. In 2016, it partnered with the American Cancer Society to start educating its employees on the harms of tobacco use.
