As the oldest and largest FREE summer day camp in the nation, Hartford's Camp Courant provides a safe, exciting and educational environment in which Hartford's youth, ages five (5) through 12, participate in active learning opportunities and fun activities, focused on positive youth development and healthy lifestyle choices. Campers become part of a historic camp community that continues to grow and evolve, but has also stood the test of time for well over a century. In 2019, Hartford's Camp Courant will celebrate its 125th anniversary. Camp's mission is grounded in the central premise that fun, yet educational, experiences will have a positive and lifelong impact on our young campers, many of whom lack structured programming during the summer months. As a youth development organization, we combine traditional camp activities such as swimming, arts & crafts and sports with over a dozen enrichment programs that expose our campers to ideas and opportunities that spark their imaginations and inspire them to be their best in a safe, nurturing, fresh-air setting. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES Hartford's Camp Courant is celebrating 125 years in 2019, and you are invited to help us celebrate! A number of fundraising events will take place over the course of the year, culminating with our annual year-end Buddy Bash celebration at our campsite on Friday, September 13, 2019. The Buddy Bash celebration will highlight the amazing work of Camp Courant over the last 125 years, and will feature lavish food from over 20 area restaurants, delicious brews, great entertainment and exciting silent auction items, all in support of Hartford's young people. The Buddy Bash also honors one organization and one individual who is dedicated to supporting an exciting, educational and robust youth-development experience for thousands of Hartford's kids, summer after summer. The 2018 award winners were Christmas Wish CT and SBM Charitable Foundation. Want to support the 2019 Buddy Bash and help Camp Courant celebrate its 125th anniversary in style? Become a sponsor, buy a ticket to the event, donate in- kind services (printing, tables, chairs, linens, etc), donate an auction item or donate food or drinks for the event. Please visit www.campcourant.org for Buddy Bash information, and sponsorship opportunities for the 125th anniversary celebration. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES • Camp Programming (June 2019-August 2019) Come experience Camp first hand by volunteering alongside our staff and our campers. We are always looking for volunteers to assist in the classroom, help with recreational programming and activities and serve as chaperones on Camp-sponsored field trips. • CampBeautificationProjects (April 2019 – October 2019) Our campus in Farmington is beautiful, but we could not keep it looking great without the help of volunteers. During the warmer months, we rely on the dedication of volunteers to help with beautification and clean up at Camp. Activities may include painting, landscaping, clean up and general labor. • Special Events Special events are the perfect opportunity for an individual or a group to get involved and be connected with one of Camp's special events and fundraisers over the course of the year.
