TOP FUNDING SOURCES Federal & State grants: 67% Grants: 14% Private Contributions: 13% Other: 6% The Governor's Prevention Partnership builds and offers youth prevention programs that are based on state-of-the- art research and training that is reality-based and relevant to our young peoples' needs and environment to prevent substance abuse and bullying. We do this with an eye toward the future, one filled with the promise of successful young people ready and excited to take their place in tomorrow's workforce. We seek to build awareness, alliances, knowledge and capacity — all to support the objective to mitigate risks for young people in Connecticut and promote their well-being. We fulfill our mission by serving as a public policy advocate and by identifying, demonstrating and promoting effective prevention and intervention practices. We serve as a source of funding, training, data and best practices for direct service providers seeking to offer programs that will have a measurable, positive impact on youth. Because meeting the challenge cannot be met by any person or organization working alone, The Partnership considers its most critical and unique leadership role to be as a collaborator, connector and convener on a statewide basis. GOALS • Build knowledge and disseminate best practices in prevention and positive youth development as a thought leader and standard bearer. • Build capacity for prevention within communities and organizations across the state, acting as a convener and connector. • Build public-private partnerships and strategic relationships to leverage resources and affect change. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES The Governor's Prevention Partnership is a public-private partnership. Each fall, it recognizes its donors at an annual event that has attracted Connecticut's top business and government leaders for the past three decades and showcases their commitment to Connecticut's youth. BOARD OF DIRECTORS I am appreciative of the work The Governor's Prevention Partnership does fighting for the future of our great state. They have created specialized mentoring services for youth in the juvenile justice system; worked to create more inclusive school climates to ensure every child the right to learn without the fear of bullying; and brought culturally responsive prevention services to underserved populations.
