www.HartfordBusiness.com • November 13, 2018 • GIVING GUIDE • Hartford Business Journal 17 Founded in 1992, The Connecticut Forum is a one-of-a-kind 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving Connecticut and beyond with live, unscripted panel discussions among renowned experts and celebrities, and community outreach programs including our Connecticut YOUTH Forum. Forums are presented four times per year to audiences of 2,800 at The Bushnell Theater in Hartford. Past panelists have included Michelle Obama; Malcolm Gladwell; Justice Stephen Breyer; David Chang; Temple Grandin; Toni Morrison; Patti Smith; Neil deGrasse Tyson; Anita Hill; Fareed Zakaria; Doris Kearns Goodwin; Thomas Friedman; Sallie Krawcheck; Karl Rove; John Legend; Martina Navratilova; David McCullough and more than 400 others over the past 26 years. GOALS Now in our 27th season, our primary focus for the next 12 months will be: • To enhance the cultural diversity of the region through a dynamic season of events, high-impact YOUTH Forum programming, and exciting special Forum events. • To leverage and expand Forum activities to maximize civil discourse in our community. • To deepen our impact in Greater Hartford with local conversations. • To expand our network of collaborative relationships and community partnerships. • To extend our impact beyond Connecticut via technology. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES The Connecticut Forum relies on individual, foundation, and corporate support to carry out our mission and continue our important work. This generous support allows us to: • Present four, quality Forums each season with world- renowned experts and thought leaders. • Provide academic, leadership, and cultural enrichment opportunities to more than 750 Connecticut high school students each year through our YOUTH Forum. • Promote civil dialogue about timely, important, and provocative issues. Donations to the Friends of The Forum Annual Campaign (July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019) provide critical operational support for our core work and programs. Season and Special Sponsorship opportunities enable businesses of all sizes to directly enhance the cultural vitality of our community, while enjoying the increased visibility and exclusive benefits of Forum Sponsorship. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Volunteers have been integral to the success of The CT Forum since 1992, assisting with programming, special events and daily operations. Volunteers may: • Serve as Forum ambassadors at theater and community events. • Assist at YOUTH Forum monthly meetings, or serve as facilitators at the annual Connecticut YOUTH Forum Student Conference — a day of workshops, food, and fun for more than 300 YOUTH Forum members. • Help CT Forum staff during office hours with administrative and event-related tasks. • Participate in program and season development sessions to shape upcoming Forum events.
