■ ■ In October, Connecticut regulators
approved CVS Health's proposed $69
billion acquisition of Aetna. The Justice
Department has also given conditional
approval of the deal, which CVS recently
said it hopes to close by Thanksgiving,
as long as the insurer follows through on
its promise to divest its Medicare Part D
prescription drug plans.
■ ■ Also in October, CVS pledged it would
keep Aetna in Hartford for at least 10 years
after the merger was completed.
■ ■ In June, Aetna, along with The
Hartford and Travelers Cos., made the
first installment of a five-year, $50 million
donation to the city of Hartford. The
funding aims to help the city of Hartford
balance its budget.
