Retirement Expertise to Optimize Your Firm's Plan Email exchanges between Worcester officials and Pawtucket Red Sox indicated a few key points about the process of drawing the team to a new planned ballpark in Worcester: 1. PawSox brass and Worcester officials were careful not too many details weren't put in writing throughout the process. 2. Emails reference a meeting from July 2017, before the Worcester City Coun- cil voted to have City Manager Edward Augustus do what he reasonably could to attract the team. 3. Worcester's chief development officer, Michael Traynor, was heavily involved in the efforts to bring the team to Worcester, followed by Chief of Staff Nicole Valentine, at least when corresponding through email. 4. Janet Marie Smith, the noted architect of Baltimore's Camden Yards ballpark and modern renovations at Fenway Park, was closely involved throughout much of the process. 5. Denis Dowdle, a developer who has proposed building a roughly $100-million, two-hotel, 225-unit mixed-use develop- ment just outside the stadium, was also involved. 6. Hanover Insurance Group and UMass Memorial Health Care were among the 16 companies the team identified as ex- pressing an interest in providing corporate sponsorship. 7. The two sides met on several occasions late last year and first toured the ballpark site together in February. 8. The city provided to the team a list of the 100 largest Central Massachusetts companies, a list that was pulled from Worcester's bid for Amazon's second headquarters. 9. Augustus wanted to see for himself what type of modern downtown ballpark and surrounding neighborhood was envisioned for Worcester, so he traveled to ballparks in Charlotte and Durham, N.C. 10. The city and the team began discussing details of an announcement of a deal as early as May, a month before the Rhode Island governor, Gina Raimondo, signed a deal meant to keep the team in Pawtucket.
