Bob Gdowski, managing director of JCJ's southwest cluster of offices, said the firm has been operating in Las Vegas since January, utilizing co-op space. Its new office is scheduled to be ready Oct. 29. Gdowski said JCJ's decision to open the new office is fueled by economic opportunities in the city and region. JCJ has a lengthy record of achievement in designing schools, including work at Trinity and Wesleyan colleges, the University of St. Joseph and several buildings at UConn. The Las Vegas office is the ninth for the 82-year-old firm that operates under an Employee Stock Ownership Program. CT Tech Council CEO Carlson to resign Bruce Carlson, CEO and president of the Connecticut Technology Council (CTC), has informed its board of directors he will step down from his post at year-end. Carlson said the timing is right for him to leave after leading the tech council for the last five years. He doesn't have future employment plans, CTC said. CTC's board has launched a search committee to find his replacement. CT gets 2 of Dunkin's reimagined stores Two new Connecticut Dunkin' Donuts restaurants in Simsbury and Wallingford will feature restyled store designs, employee uniforms and service amenities. The Boston coffee, pastries and hot sandwiches franchisor said the new restaurants at 1261 Hopmeadow St. in Simsbury, and at 1101 N. Colony Road in Wallingford, are the first in this state and among 50 new and remodeled Dunkin' Donuts shops incorporating the features. Along with dining-service space redesigned to be more open and colorful, the new Dunkin' stores feature a novel tap system for serving cold beverages. The Wallingford store features an On-the-Go drive-thru lane for customer orders placed via its mobile app. Later, the Simsbury store will feature fully integrated digital kiosks that customers can use to place orders themselves and track them via a digital order- board. It also has a designated area for mobile-order pickups. Dunkin' Donuts recently announced plans to shorten its name to just Dunkin', beginning in 2019. FedEx adding 1,000 Middletown jobs for holidays FedEx Ground, which recently opened a 600,000-square-foot distribution hub in Middletown, says it's adding 1,000 workers there for the holiday season. FedEx, of Memphis, Tenn., says it will add the seasonal positions in Connecticut as part of a national hiring effort to add over 55,000 workers for the holidays. The majority of FedEx's new jobs in Middletown, and throughout the U.S., will be seasonal package handlers, although other opportunities will be available. Additional positions will be added as needed, officials said.
