CREC, Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters kickoff e-mentoring program All 110 incoming freshmen at CREC's Academy of Science & Innovation in New Britain have been matched with adult mentors in the new Mentor 2.0 program, managed by Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters. The mentors and mentees will connect once every week and then meet once a month for a group activity at the school. Kelser charity challenge raises money for Hospital for Special Care The 22nd annual Kelser Charity Challenge raised an estimated $25,000 for the Hospital for Special Care's new Center for Cognitive Health. The golf tournament, silent auction and dinner were organized by Glastonbury IT consulting firm Kelser Corp. and took place at Indian Hill Country Club in Newington. Yard Goats named 2018 commitment to charity award winner by Ballpark Digest The Hartford Yard Goats Baseball Club has been named the 2018 commitment to charity award winner by BallparkDigest.com. The Yard Goats have focused on increasing outreach by developing unique community programs such as the Yard Goats Young Ambassadors, Yard Goats Youth Performing Arts and Yard Goats Youth Culinary Arts programs and Yard Goats Dance Team.
