As the InforME network manager, MIN provides the state of Maine with the Maine.gov website and 170 unique online services that have trans- formed the way citizens and business represen- tatives interact with government. This is complex work, and MIN appreciates when staff go above and beyond, rewarding a job well done with gift cards, notes of thanks, or quirky and fun gifts like sock monkey toys. For milestone anniversaries, staff can select thank- you items of their choice; for instance, staff members have received TVs, BBQ grills, gaming equipment and even patio sets. Employees can take advantage of MIN's flexible work hours to accommodate school events or take family members to the doctor, for example. MIN's telecommuting options allows staff to work part of their week from the comfort of their home. The flexible work schedule and work environ- ment allow folks, for example, to wear jeans to work, or start their day at 6:30 a.m. so they can be home by the time their kids return from school. Or they can take a two-hour lunch break if they want. This is a family-first environ- ment: Since the majority of the staff members have worked with MIN three or more years, it has truly become a family away from home. Everyone enjoys a strong team feeling, with everyone working toward a common goal. Excellent health care benefits include no-em- ployee-cost coverage pro- vided through Cigna. In most cases, coverage for major procedures, such as out-patient surgical procedures or the birth of a child, are covered at 90% or more. Additionally, deductibles remain low compared to other companies, with the employee's out-of-pocket maximum being between $700 and $1,400 annually. MIN's competitive 401(k) package includes employer matches of 50% for up to 10% of the employee's income. Additionally, stock in the company can be purchased at a discounted rate of the lowest price two times per year. Employees can take advantage of men- toring, job shadowing and cross-training, and attendance at leadership workshops or other formal leadership education. An employer-sponsored Employee Assistance Program can provide counseling ser- vices for marital, parental or financial problems, or can provide assistance for specific conditions such as substance abuse, smoking cessation or gambling.
