As the nation's largest financial-services firm in terms of financial advi- sors and branch offices, that aspect of the busi- ness is important as fi- nancial advisors work with clients to under- stand personal goals – from college savings to retirement – and create long-term investment solutions. Edward Jones embraces the importance of building long-term, face-to-face relationships with clients. That philosophy is in keeping with the firm's relationships with its financial advi- sors and branch office administra- tor teams. Those who serve clients well earn the firm's highest honors. Community involvement is encouraged and associates embrace causes such as the Walk to End Alzheimer's – a firmwide cause. As an associate-owned firm, Edward Jones offers long-term career and lead- ership opportunities. Opportunities and potential compensation are nu- merous. Success helping clients results in trimester bonuses, annual profit- sharing at 24% of net profits, and the opportunity to own a piece of the firm through limited partnership. A new partnership offering this year is expected to add thousands of new limited partners. Partnership is a unique reward that few compa- nies offer. Any associate in good standing with three years of service can be offered partnership. Nearly 40% of associates are owners. That kind of investment is personal as well. For example, when associates face personal or professional difficul- ties, Edward Jones stands by them. This might mean quick assistance in a natural disaster, paid leave or medical exceptions, cards and emails, or dozens of associates showing up at a funeral. Volunteerism is fundamental to the culture and associates love the opportunity to give back. Home-office associates get one paid "Day of Caring" annually and volunteerism during the workday is common and expected. Benefits include paid parental leave for births or adoptions – 16 weeks for primary caregivers and two weeks for secondary caregivers. The wellness program offers biometric screenings, premium discounts, and one-on-one health and weight-loss telephone and online coaching. Since 2016, the firm has distributed a Fitting in Fitness stretch and strengthening guide with free exercise bands. The 2017 Keeping up with Joneses fitness challenge drew 11,990 associates, who competed in teams to hit 8,500 steps a day.
