PRESIDENT & PUBLISHER Joe Zweibel CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER Peter Stanton CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER/CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER Mary Rogers GROUP PUBLISHER Donna Brassard DIGITAL DIRECTOR Jan Holder EDITORIAL DIRECTOR - CT Greg Bordonaro T he magazine you are holding in your hands for the first time marks the culmination of literally a year's worth of thoughts, words and hard work by some of the most talented media professionals in Connecticut. It also marks the fulfillment of a dream. New Haven Biz debuted a year ago in digital format. It has been very enthusiastically received by business readers and others throughout New Haven County and beyond. e need and desire for news and information about the companies and major institutions that define much of life in southern Connecticut has gone unmet for too long. Today the fulfillment of that promise is augmented by the premier print edition of New Haven Biz. It's a different kind of editorial package than its digital cousin — comprehensive, in-depth coverage and compelling images of the people and organizations that make our corner of New England tick.. Compared to southern New England's other mid-sized cities — Springfield, Worcester, Providence, R.I. — New Haven is a different creature altogether. While the economies of cities like Hartford are built on century-old "legacy" industries such as insurance, New Haven proudly thrives on creative destruction and reinvention. It always has. From Eli Whitney's cotton gin to A.C. Gilbert's Erector Set to New England's first technol- ogy incubator, New Haven has an unparalleled history as a hotbed of creativity, change and innovation. It's an exciting time for New Ha- ven, and for me personally. I have been fortunate to have practiced journalism here since the 1990s. As a founder and editor of a successful business publication I got to know Living the Dream well the people and organiza- tions that define and energize our region. As creator of a monthly city magazine I was proud to edit what many regarded as the best magazine between New York and Boston. Today, that's my mission state- ment for New Haven Biz — to bring our readers a publication that's as unique, vital and even unpredict- able as the business community we cover and celebrate. Our promise is to inform, update and even, yes, to entertain. We're delighted and proud to have you along for the journey. I know it will be a reward- ing one. Today and always, I invite you to write to me at mbingham@ newhavenbiz.com. n Sincerely, Michael C.
