It has grown from 14 employees in January 2016 to a current 100. It expects to have 160 workers by year's end and 250 by 2019. It produces vehicle bod- ies, branded DuraMag and Magnum, that are 45% to 50% lighter than steel bodies, generating significant fuel consumption and maintenance ben- efits without rust, the company said. Bangor Savings to open Auburn branch Bangor Savings Bank plans to open its first branch in Auburn, its 61st overall. e 5,600-square-foot branch, at 170 Turner St., is expected to open in the late fall of 2019 on the site of a three-story apartment build- ing recently purchased by the bank, according to a news release. Bangor Savings, the second-largest Maine- based bank with over $4 billion in assets, currently operates a branch about 2 miles away, at 882 Lisbon St., Lewiston. Other Maine branches stretch from Houlton to York. In April, Bangor acquired Granite Bank of Colebrook, N.H., for $45 million, adding four New Hampshire branches under the Bangor name. Rangeley airport to get $11.5M for runway extension Rangeley will receive $11.5 million from the Federal Aviation Administration to extend the runway and make other improvements at the town's Stephen A. Bean Municipal Airport. e grant from the FAA's Airport Improvement Program, announced in a news release from U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, comes after the airport was awarded nearly $400,000 in program fund- ing this summer. e new grant is by far the largest improvement award made this year to a Maine airport. Stephen A. Bean Municipal Airport, formerly known as Rangeley Airport, was con- structed in 1934 and serves Franklin County. e airport enables critical medical transportation, since the nearest hospital is a 50-minute drive away. Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project in Portland opened an office in Lewiston as part of an effort to serve more immigrants throughout the state of Maine. Lewiston law firm Berman & Simmons donated $20,000 a year for five years and committed pro-bono support to assist the project. Boothbay Harbor seeks to protect working waterfront e Boothbay Harbor Planning Board will consider changes to its zoning ordi- nance that would maintain and provide protections for the east side's existing maritime zone. Chairman Bill Hamblen suggested dividing the east side into a maritime zone and a limited commer- cial and maritime zone, the Boothbay Register reported. e maritime zone would encompass six working water- front parcels and remove residential and microbrewery uses. e limited commercial and maritime district would maintain the maritime uses and add uses like view corridors and 25-foot set- backs, but no multifamily dwellings. e discussion has been ongoing for the past year, as Boothbay Harbor weighs mixed- use zoning changes in a traditional maritime zone on the marine-oriented east side of the harbor.
