SERVICE LOCATION(S) Headquartered in Camden, HIOBS serves close to 2,500 students per year at wilderness basecamps in St. George and Newry, Maine, the Florida Keys and throughout the Americas. Our students span all age ranges from teens to adults, to veterans and corporate leaders, and come from all over the globe. Hurricane Island Outward Bound School 2019 GOALS f Support character education and leadership development in Maine young people f Support post 9/11 veterans in their transition back to civilian life f Support scholarship to ensure that HIOBS programs are accessible to all f Support Maine's business community through experiential team-building programs that promote lasting change for organizations We aim to serve more students in 2019 by expanding our programs across the board: from middle- and high-school aged students, to veterans and busi- ness professionals. As part of this growth, we are building partnerships with business organi- zations and individuals so that we may secure the resources required to reach under-served student populations and advance the mission of the school. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES f Attend our annual summer celebration and community-building event, the Annual General Meeting, scheduled annually on the last Saturday in August. Recent highlights have included the ever-popular "lobstah" bake along with artisanal pizza from e Uproot Pie Co., music and dancing and fi reworks. f Attend one or more of our other seasonal community gatherings throughout the state of Maine and beyond. f Participate in an invitational expedition specifi cally designed for adults interested in supporting HIOBS with your talents, energy and fi nancial resources. ese select expeditions immerse you in an abridged version of a traditional course, showcasing our educational philosophy and providing fi rsthand knowledge of the transformational power of Outward Bound.
