SERVICE LOCATION(S) State of Maine 2019 GOALS Our impact goal is, by the year 2020, to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20%, while reducing deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20% by: f Funding research with six grants totaling more than $1.3 million at the Maine Medical Center Research Institute in Portland, e Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor and University of Maine-Orono. f Inspiring women to take charge of their heart health through the Maine Goes Red statewide awareness cam- paign, sponsored Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. f Improving employee health through workplace wellness programs and free Hands-Only CPR demonstrations. f Teaming up with 165 local schools to combat childhood obesity though our Kids Heart Challenge program. f Providing science-based treatment guidelines to health care profes- sionals to help them provide quality care to their patients with our Get With The Guidelines® program. f Educating Mainers about the signs and symptoms of heart attack and stroke and the importance of calling 9-1-1 immediately. Health profes- sionals can give a clinical perspective on the AHA's public health initiatives, such as school nutrition, fitness, cho- lesterol and blood pressure manage- ment, smoking cessation and other ways to lower cardiovascular disease risk.
