SERVICE LOCATION(S) N/A Maine Maritime Museum 2019 GOALS In 2019, Maine Maritime Museum plans to create a better first impression for guests arriving by car, on foot or bike or by boat through a complete redevelop- ment of the museum's arrival spaces. is redesign will make the museum more environmentally friendly, more accessible for those with mobility challenges and more beautiful and welcoming to all. e five-acre area will be free and open not only to museum visitors, but also to members of the community, creating a park- like space for all to gather, discover the unique river marshes, explore outdoor exhibits and enjoy beautiful views of the Kennebec River. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES Maine Maritime Museum receives generous corporate support through its highly successful Business Partner program and via exhibit, program, and event spon- sorships. A recent economic impact study by Planning Decisions Inc. determined that Maine Maritime Museum visitors spend more time and money in Maine than visitors to any other of the state's museums. Both Business Partnerships and sponsorships offer a unique way to preserve the state's maritime heritage, support an economic driver in the Midcoast region and align businesses with its target customer. ose interested in giving to the museum should contact Rebecca Roche, manager of development operations, at (207) 443-1316 ext. 327 or roche@maritimeme.org. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES In addition to an annual fund, the museum also accepts support for special projects. Two current special projects are the First Impressions project—a complete redesign of the museum's five-acre arrival area to improve accessibil- ity—and the continued preservation of the historic 1906 schooner Mary E to ensure that she will sail for decades to come. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Maine Maritime Museum is fortunate to have a corps of over 275 volunteers who fulfill a variety of roles, from maintaining the campus to working with school groups to assisting in the research library. We are always looking for new recruits to join our team!
