We hold as essential the participation of all consumers and look to collaborate with allies to find realistic solutions to local and statewide issues and to advance recovery-oriented, consumer-driven mental health care and peer-run recovery opportunities. CCSM consists entirely of past/present recipients of mental health services (consumer/peers), including all Statewide Consumer Council representatives and paid staff. SERVICE LOCATION(S) Statewide Consumer Council System of Maine 2019 GOALS e Consumer Council System of Maine (CCSM) is an independent, public instrumentality established by Maine law (Title 34-B, §3611) and is responsible for providing an independent and eff ective consumer voice in shaping mental health public policy, services and funding decisions. e following are our goals for 2019: f Increase access to peer support services by expanding Medicaid (MaineCare) reimbursement for certain services in Maine f Prepare and support consumers to be eff ective advocates at the Legislature and with State agencies f Implement best practices for Statewide Consumer Council meetings – focus meetings on goals and governance work f Increase the number and diversity of consumer voices contributing to CCSM's work FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES f Annual meeting: Each January, the CCSM holds its Annual Meeting & Awards Ceremony. Organizations and individuals can support this event by becoming a sponsor or by contributing to our ticket auction. Event sponsor- ship off ers great visibility/recognition for your business/employees. For more information about this event, contact Melissa Caswell at (207) 430-8300. f CLYNK bottle drive: e CCSM has partnered with Hannaford's CLYNK bottle return that allows you to donate your redeemable bottles to the CCSM year-round. Just fi ll a CLYNK bag with your bottles and return to your local Hannaford Redemption Center. If you would like to participate, contact the offi ce to obtain a prelabeled CLYNK bag. f Online donations: e CCSM is in the process of creating an online dona- tion button via our website. f HOPE Conference: Yearly conference held at the Augusta Civic Center that is organized in collaboration with the Maine Offi ce of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services. e conference is open to 300-plus individuals (peers) with lived experience of a mental health and/or substance use chal- lenges as well as service providers. e goals for the conference are for peers to gain a greater understanding of what recovery/wellness is from the many paths and diff erent perspectives on the journey of life. It is a chance for par- ticipants to learn from each other, network and gain greater understanding about recovery and wellness. All workshops are created and given by peers. Ways to help with HOPE Conference: f 1. Become a sponsor - varying sponsorship levels are available f 2. Attend the conference GIVING OPPORTUNITIES f Become a sponsor or donate raffl e items to CCSM's Annual Meeting f Make a one time donation: monetary or in-kind services f Provide computer software, technology items and technical support VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES e CCSM prides itself on community collaboration and we have many vol- unteer opportunities available. We welcome and need the participation of all mental health consumers/peers and community members statewide. f Offi ce volunteers: Assist with ongoing or one-time projects that include grant writing, fundraising, advertising and computer/tech support f Facilitators/trainers: Help facilitate special events or meetings; provide computer training or leadership/board member training f Membership/recruitment/collaboration: Participate in or help recruit members to take part in the Statewide Consumer Council, Local Council meetings and subcommittee groups or become a "Friends of the CCSM" community partner to help work on important projects/initiatives If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Melissa Caswell at (207) 430-8300.
