SERVICE LOCATION(S) Mainly Androscoggin, Oxford and Franklin counties, though our business lending programs through Community Concepts Finance Corp. cover the entire state of Maine. 2019 GOALS Community Concepts is working to expand a new service delivery model that allows entire families to more readily access a range of services within our organi- zation and among partner organizations. is cutting-edge approach is aimed at breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty by offering a range of supports for the entire family and allowing people to choose their own path forward. From financial coaching and parenting classes, to Head Start early learning cen- ters and workforce development, Community Concepts and its affiliate Community Concepts Finance Corp. are designing a complimentary set of programs to allow all residents to achieve personal and financial fulfillment. We are also creating strategic partnerships with other organizations that offer services we do not, creating a direct link for individuals and families to get help where they need it most. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES Community Concepts holds two main events throughout the year aimed at community involvement and fundraising, in addition to our annual direct appeal to individual donors. f Oxford County Touch A Truck is a great community event in May for kids of all ages. Offering an event unlike any other in the heart of our service area allows us to reach out to residents to tell them about our services and the opportunities available to them. We hope to grow this event in the future with the help of sponsorships that will allow us to more effectively get our message out and give families a fun, free event just as spring gets underway. f Our fall dinner and concert benefit is in its third year, and continues to grow. With greater support from sponors, we can bring higher profile per- formers to Lewiston and raise greater awareness about the incredible value our programs bring to Western Maine. f e end of year Annual Appeal is one of our biggest pushes to raise the unrestricted funds that have become so essential to filling the gaps between the specific funding provided through federal, state and grant funding. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES Community Concepts is dedicated to addressing the root causes of poverty. Many clients come to the agency to find relief from an immediate problem, but these problems are usually symptoms of a bigger issue. For example, someone who applies for heating assistance may need access to safer, more efficient, or more affordable housing. ey may also benefit from workforce training to qualify for a higher paying job or affordable child care so they can work during the day. With the help of local providers, Community Concepts is working with clients to set goals and find long-term solutions for basic needs. Agency staff provide step-by- step guidance and follow up supports to individuals and families, addressing food access, housing, health, transportation, education, child care, income and peer supports. Although donations to individual programs are always welcome, gifts to the agency as a whole help make this process possible. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES f Drivers in the Transportation Program – We are always seeking new driv- ers to help fill the need for rides by those with no other means of transpor- tation. Training is provided, drivers are equipped with cellular-connected tablets and all miles driven are reimbursed at $0.41/mile. f Self Help Housing – Help low-income families build their own houses from the ground up, on weekends throughout the year. f The Hub at Lewiston Public Library – Help direct local residents to the services they need to get them out of crisis and toward stability.
