SERVICE LOCATION(S) Waterville and Greater Waterville (Central Maine region) Waterville Creates! 2019 GOALS Waterville Creates! (WC!) will continue to support, promote and grow arts and cultural programming in Waterville while also providing administrative, marketing, development and accounting services to local arts institutions. WC! will develop and implement a comprehensive arts marketing plan that promotes the programmatic offerings of WC! and its partners. ese efforts will complement regional tourism and economic development efforts and solidify Waterville's reputation as a destina- tion for arts and culture. New in 2019, WC! will develop a model for a unified arts education program that ensures access for all Waterville area youth, regardless of income, to participate in educational opportunities at the Waterville Opera House, Maine Film Center, Common Street Arts, Colby College Museum of Art and the Waterville Public Library. WC! will work with Colby College to advance plans for a new downtown arts center and will work with the city of Waterville and other key community stakeholders on creative placemaking and public art initiatives. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES Waterville Creates! is leading a community capital campaign to raise $2 million in support of a new downtown arts center that will include the relocation of the Maine Film Center's Railroad Square Cinema with three film screening rooms and a per- manent home for the Maine International Film Festival; the Common Street Arts gallery, education classroom and clay studio; a new contemporary gallery of the Colby College Museum of Art; a new rehearsal space for the Waterville Opera House that also will serve as a multi-purpose space for special events and receptions; a combined box office for the Maine Film Center, Waterville Opera House and other arts insti- tutions and partners; and flexible educational spaces that can be used for film editing and new media, workshops and lectures. ere are numerous giving opportunities and levels, including in-kind opportunities, a variety of naming opportunities and a multi- year pledge period. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES Waterville Creates! is working with its arts partners to identify new sponsors for the arts exhibition and education programs at Common Street Arts, including the free, weekly Art in the Park program, which is held June through August in conjunction with the Downtown Waterville Farmers' Market and serves an average of 100-150 people per week; the Maine Film Center's 10-day Maine International Film Festival, the oldest and largest film festival in the state, which averages 9,000-10,000 admissions each July; Waterville Rocks!, a weekly, free, family-friendly outdoor music series; the Waterville Opera House's wide array of community theater productions and live music events; the Waterville Public Library's Cirque du Geek festival; and other high-profile events. Waterville Creates! is also seeking a lead sponsor of its new unified arts education program to ensure full access for area youth to educational opportu- nities regardless of income. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Waterville Creates! and its partners offer a wide variety of volunteer opportuni- ties, including opportunities for individuals to assist with exhibition installation, education programs, marketing initiatives, gallery sitting, research and other special projects. We also welcome business volunteer teams to assist with ticket taking, ushering and other event management logistics.
