A trio of friends from town opened Labyrinth Brewing Co. on Aug. 25, unveiling a revamped brewpub in a former waste silk warehouse that was once part of the Cheney family's silk mill complex. The 2,100-square-foot tap room at 148 Forest St., which can hold up to 175 patrons, serves six to eight beers, including Turbo Love Juice New England IPA; Wyvern's Raspberry Wheat; Siren's Song Lime Gose; and Pan's American IPA, among other IPAs, cream ales and stouts. The 39-year-old owners, Adam Delaura, Chris Walnum and Sean Gaura, have added four employees to their operation and plan to produce 800 to 1,000 barrels of beer annually. Fixed in a mill built in 1882, the brewers undertook a 16-week construction of the historic space supported by two Kickstarter fundraisers that collected nearly $22,000. The donor names are scrawled on a "Wall of Heroes" in the brewery. S. Windsor ticket resellers sue NY for pushback of biz practices Two South Windsor-based event ticketing companies have each filed lawsuits against New York's attorney general to prevent the state from suing them over alleged fraudulent ticket sales. TicketNetwork Inc., which operates a website for ticket resales, and Ticket Galaxy, a ticket reseller, said they each filed lawsuits in New York Supreme Court against Attorney General Barbara Underwood for the court to affirm their ticket sales are lawful. The lawsuits come more than two years after the New York attorney general's office said a multi-year probe uncovered the online marketplaces defraud consumers by selling tickets not yet in inventory. Underwood has asked the companies to pay millions of dollars in penalties to avoid a lawsuit. TicketNetwork argues it is not responsible for third-party ticket sales on its website, even if sellers offer tickets they do not yet own. The company says there is no legal precedent for this allegation under state or federal law made by the attorney general's office. Aer Lingus extends commitment to Bradley Airport; CT reduces revenue guarantee Aer Lingus has committed to an additional four years bringing travelers between Bradley International Airport and Dublin, Ireland, despite missing its first-year revenue target. Aer Lingus in Sept. 2016 began providing the direct route from Bradley, and has increased its ridership each year since, officials said. But the Irish air carrier missed its revenue goal after year one, forcing the state to make good on a $4.5 million subsidy. The payment from the state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) was part of a two-year, $13 million incentive deal between state officials and Aer Lingus to lure it to Bradley. Under a new agreement, DECD reduced its revenue guarantee from $4.5 million down to no more than $3.8 million in year two; $3 million in year three; and $2 million in year four. Aer Lingus also agreed to operate the service in the fifth and sixth years with no state subsidy.
