Maine Public Relations Council added Wayne Clark to its board of direc- tors. Clark teaches at the University of Southern Maine, New England College, Pacific University and Southern New Hampshire University at the under- graduate and graduate levels. The American Heart Association in Portland elected Dervilla McCann, chief of population health at Central Maine Medical Center, as board president; and Mindy Beyer, quality improve- ment specialist with Maine Medical Partners / MaineHealth Cardiology, as board chair. In addition, Melanie Tinto, chief human resource officer at WEX, and Melina Furtado, associate research scientist at Jackson Laboratory, were added to the board. Husson University in Bangor said that President Robert Clark was elected to the board of directors of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation for a three-year term, effective July 1. e council is a national advocate and institutional voice for promoting aca- demic quality through accreditation. Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership in Augusta added Sally Garand to its board of directors. Garand is a commercial loan officer with Finance Authority of Maine. [ A C H I E V E M E N T S ] CES Inc., a firm of engineers, environ- mental scientists and land survey- ors in Brewer, said Kay Allcroft is now a Society of Human Resources Management Certified Professional. Allcroft is human resources director, corporate risk manager and safety coordinator for the firm. Alison Siviski, community and com- munications manager at the Olympia Snowe Women's Leadership Institute, was named the first-ever "Maine Young Professional of the Year" at the sec- ond annual Ignition Awards hosted by PROPEL and the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce. Four local busi- nesses were also recognized at the event: "Hustler of the Year" was High Roller Lobster Co.; "Social Entrepreneurship (Small Business)" went to Mast Landing Brewing; "Social Entrepreneur of the Year" was awarded to Revision Energy; and "Economic Stimulation Award (Large Business)" went to Certify.
