www.wbjournal.com Worcester Business Journal Giving Guide 2018 9 T he Provo Wealth Management Group (PWMG) has built its business from the ground up by creating comprehensive, personalized financial management plans for its clients. One of the key principles by which the company operates is commitment to community and social responsibility. Focused on trust, account - ability and client-centric practices, PWMG has earned a reputation as a responsible wealth management advisor and as a good corporate citizen. PWMG educates their clients – individuals, businesses and non-profit organiza- tions – on how to align their values with the investments they make. Pamela Provo, Executive Vice President, Business Development, said, "We definitely encourage people to live in alignment, or operate their business in alignment, with whatever their values are." Clients who want to support sustainable companies – those that take care of their employees, provide transparency to customers and profitability for investors, and focus on doing the right thing for mankind – are encouraged to operate in accord with the "Human Impact and Profit" (HIP) philosophy. "It's an imperative in this day and age, to not just be about profits," said Christopher Provo, RFC, CRPC, President/ CEO. "Nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care." PWMG brings its philosophy of sustainability and human impact into the greater community, particularly the academic arena. A 12-year board of trustee member at Becker College, Chris is deeply involved with the Yunus Social Business Centre (YSBC), the first in the US; Pamela serves on the Advisory Board of the YSBC as well. The Centre was founded on the principles of Muhammad Yunus, the only economist to win the Nobel Peace Prize and founder of Grameen Bank, which helps under - served people unleash their creativity and end poverty. Notably, Becker is the first college in the country to achieve a 100 percent sustain- able endowment, thanks to the Provos' efforts; PWMG is a founding member of the Intentional Endowment Network. This year, Becker refurbished a Tudor style build- ing for the YSBC and other departments, which was named for the Provo family. PWMG is also devoted to helping first and second generation self-made individuals who have achieved a high level of financial success eager to support non-profit orga- nizations but unsure of where to start. PWMG connects these individuals with non-profits, helping them protect and preserve their wealth by providing access to strategies normally reserved for the ultra wealthy. PWMG knows that its clients have good intentions when donating to a cause or organization. But "Giving When It Doesn't Hurt" does not make that intention an indispensable prerequisite. "The program focuses on 'two-way giving,' which means creating charitable capital, while simultaneously increasing your family's net worth, current income, legacy or all three," Pam said. "The programs range from the very simple to the uber-sophisticated." Individuals with a net worth greater than $5 million can capitalize on a more com - plex strategy. For instance, this level of wealth would facilitate sizeable annual chari- table gifts, coupled with a large remainder gift when the client dies. "Remarkably, these objectives are all accomplished without changing the client's current cash flow or access to existing assets." On a personal level, Chris and Pamela are lifetime members of the Ouimet Society and the St. Xaverian Society at St. John's High School. The couple has also volunteered for the New England Center for Children and the Odd Fellows Home for many years. Chris is the 2018 Chair of the 43rd Annual Lori Lajoie Golf Tournament to benefit Seven Hills Foundation. This year's goal is to raise $500,000. To date, the tournament has raised $5 million. Provo Wealth Management Group strives to do right by doing good, both profes - sionally and personally. Pamela said, "We're in awe of so many good things happening in the area and are proud to be part of it." n Securities offered through Securities America, Inc., member FINRA (www.finra.org)/ SIPC (www.sipc.org).
