With our deep roots in the community, the YMCA of Central Massachusetts has come to serve as an invaluable resource to the children and families in our region. Y staff and volunteers constantly identify and evaluate evolving community need; our response is dynamic community-based programs. Our Y works together with Mission Partners to raise philanthropic dollars in order to ensure our services are accessible for those who need us most. Proudly, 100% of dollars raised contribute directly to the Annual Campaign – the vehicle to maintaining program subsidies and direct financial assistance. In 2017, our Y provided over $2.6 million in community benefit to improve the lives of children, families and individuals in the heart of the Commonwealth. We engage Y members, volunteers, local businesses, foundations and individual donors in order to raise sufficient funds for our community. Anyone can make a difference today by contributing to the Annual Campaign through an individual gift, participation in a signature Y event, volunteering and so much more. Fundraising, volunteerism and advocacy are critical parts of social responsibility at the Y. We welcome all individuals, community leaders and business executives to join us in the following ways: • Join a Branch Board of Governors • Be a Chairperson for one of our many fundraising efforts, such as the Annual Campaign, LIVESTRONG® At the YMCA Program Reception, YMCA Annual Golf Classic and Mission in Motion • Serve on a special projects subcommittee • Volunteer at a community event representing the Y • Read a story to our Childcare/Preschool children • Become a sports coach, swim instructor, wellness ambassador • Serve as a "mentor" in the Minority Achievers Program Each year, the Y's Annual Campaign raises philanthropic dollars in order to maintain high levels of program subsidies and direct financial assistance. In 2017, we raised an impressive $915,000, and are striving to meet a goal of $1 million for 2018. We offer low- and no-cost programs, ranging from affordable and educational afterschool care, teen leadership efforts, cancer survivor initiatives and family-focused healthy-living programming. While these programs come at little to no cost to participants, they are not free for the Y to operate. With significant community need in mind, a strong Annual Fund is essential to our Y's impact on our neighborhoods.
