CWP's BEST Chance Partnership will receive the funds from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving for participants to continue gaining pre- employment training and job placement assistance. Greater Hartford YMCA received a $10,000 contribution from AT&T to support its YMCA Teen Incentive Program, a youth- development program that rewards teens for their engagement at school and in extracurricular activities. The AT&T contribution will support field trip costs for the program's high school component, as well as other organizational expenses. The Aetna Foundation awarded Lawyers for Children America a $100,000 grant to support the nonprofit's efforts to provide effective legal advocacy services for abused and neglected children. LFCA has served over 5,000 abused and neglected children in Connecticut. The Community Renewal Team hosted its ninth annual "Tee Off with Women" golf tournament to raise money for its Women's Empowerment Center. The tournament raised $30,000 for the Women's Empowerment Center, which will be a place in Hartford where women can go for personal and professional development, in a safe and nurturing setting. Ilya Ilyankou has joined the Connecticut Data Collaborative (CT Data) as a civic technologist. Ilyankou graduated from Trinity College in Hartford in 2018 with a bachelor's degree and a double major in computer science and studio arts. At CT Data, Ilyankou will work to increase the accessibility of open public data, create data visualizations, and develop web- based tools that present data in new ways. W. Phillips Barlow has been appointed by Connecticut's State Historic Preservation office as the state's new historical landscape architect. Barlow has owned and operated To Design, a landscape architecture firm in New Britain, for more than 30 years. Raymond S. Steadward Jr. has been named a building official for the town of Enfield. Steadward has been Bloomfield's building official for the last five years. He will report to Development Services Director Lauren Whitten.
