I am representing more great Maine companies and organizations seeking to grow. Also, the initiative I founded with Mike Dubyak, FocusMaine, is well under way with a new president, support from an array of Maine companies and foundations, and a generous $.9 million matching grant. With this, we are implementing a 10-year plan to accelerate job growth in Maine's food sector and in biopharmaceutical manufacturing and development emanating from this burgeoning opportunity in Boston, as well as to increase Maine's knowledge worker capacity. is spring, I have enjoyed meeting participants in the FocusMaine-sponsored programs including top gun and accelerator programs for food com- panies run by partner organization Maine Center for Entrepreneurs, and a food investor forum run by partner CEI Inc. I am also excited about 00-plus FocusMaine college interns being employed this summer. It is enormously satisfying to see the seed of an idea begin to bear fruit, and engage so many tremendous Maine organizations and leaders in this eff ort. What's ahead: I have become a champion for growing good jobs in Maine. I'm preparing for an important election year in Maine. In addition to the FocusMaine work, I will work with my clients and Maine's next governor and legislature to strengthen Maine, includ- ing fi nding ways to build Maine's workforce to create a vibrant and healthy economy. I also plan to continue rowing with the Yarmouth Rowing Club in boats named after the Greek goddesses Artemis (the hunter) and Bia (speed and strength), and to bicycling around Maine and in foreign countries with my husband, Scott. Advice: Learn and practice your trade well. Learn it from the inside out and the outside in. Be additive to the conversations and the eff orts in your work. Learn to collaborate and to lead in a collaborative style. Listen and learn from others. 2016 T H E L I S T F O C U S C O R P O R AT E P R I VA C Y & S E C U R I T Y mainebiz.biz / printsub S U B S C R I B E Jonathan Ayers, president and CEO of IDEXX, tops our list of Maine's highest- paid public company executives.
