www.HartfordBusiness.com • August 6, 2018 • Hartford Business Journal 49 40 UNDER FORTY 2018 W ith over 15 years of experience, Jenna Mc- Clure serves as a senior associate and senior project manager at Amenta Emma Architects. She manages the firm's most complex and notable projects in the academic, commercial and senior-living market sectors. She leads diverse project teams through all phases of design and construction, bringing thought- fulness, creativity and careful design solutions to every project in which she is engaged. A LEED accredited professional, McClure also brings deep knowledge of and experience with sustainable design approaches to each project. What's been the biggest professional accomplishment so far in your career? The majority of my projects take several years to complete, from initial design concept to construction com- pletion. There is no greater accom- plishment in my professional life than walking through a completed space and seeing the design come to life after years of hard work and collaboration. Watching my clients work, teach or study in a beautiful space that I have helped to create is incredibly fulfilling. How are you involved in the community? Throughout my entire career I have been an active participant in numerous industry-related mentor- ing programs. Locally, I participate in the ACE Mentoring program and CREW Careers day. These programs expose high school students to career opportunities in the design, construc- tion and real estate industries. What do you like to do outside of work? With three daughters ages seven, five and two I am a busy mom out- side of work! My husband and I enjoy staying active with our girls — hiking, biking, exploring local museums and parks, and traveling. I also enjoy early morning runs and recently joined a women-over-30 field hockey league. What do you hope Greater Hartford will be like in 10 years? In 10 years I hope that the Greater Hartford region is thriving, with a vi- tal downtown area full of commercial and residential development, as well as arts, culture and entertainment. Four reasons why you deserve to be a 40 Under Forty: • In an industry with few females in leadership roles, I am proud to be a member of Amenta Emma's executive team. • I have actively mentored elemen- tary and high school students in both Hartford and Washington D.C. throughout my entire career. • I lead large project teams in cre- ating spaces that enrich the lives of our clients. • Through my leadership, I have advanced Amenta Emma's commit- ment to sustainability and adminis- tered the certification process for all of the firm's LEED certified projects. Fun Fact I decided to become an architect at age 10 and never looked back.
