B I Z 7 A U G U S T 6 , 2 0 1 8 Maine's largest private solar project planned e Pepperell Mill Campus in Biddeford is slated to become Maine's largest private solar project, with nearly 1,200 panels to be installed on the rooftops of the 1 million-square-foot mill complex. e Journal Tribune reported that Phil Coupe, co-founder and managing partner of ReVision Energy, said installation should be completed by year's end. e panels are expected to have a 40-year useful lifes- pan, with Coupe stating the project would pay for itself in 10 years. Hulit picked to lead Maine Community Bancorp Jeanne Hulit, who served as acting administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration under President Obama, will take the reins of Maine Community Bancorp in October as its single president and CEO. Maine Community Bancorp was created in 2016, following through on a 2015 agree- ment between Biddeford Savings Bank and Mechanic Savings Bank. Biddeford Savings Bank CEO Charles Petersen and Mechanic Savings Bank CEO Rick Vail, who jointly led the merger, will both retire in October when Hulit assumes the position of president and CEO. Hulit brings nearly two decades of banking experience as well as experi- ence leading a Maine-based manufac- turer and several years in public service at the state and federal level. She comes to Maine Community Bancorp from Village Candle in Wells, where she was named president last October. Wayfair to add 150 jobs at Brunswick Landing Wayfair plans to add 150 more jobs to its Brunswick Landing site. e Times Record reported that plan will bring the online furnishing and home decor company's workforce to 550, meeting its goal of having more than 500 employ- ees in Brunswick. e hiring timeline is still to be determined. Liz Graham, Wayfair's vice president of sales and ser- vice, told the newspaper the company has grown faster than expected. In May 2017, there was speculation that Boston- based Wayfair was a takeover target by Walmart. At that time, the Wall Street Journal reported that Walmart was fighting retail trends by buying up e-commerce sites. In 2016, Wayfair announced it would bring 450 new jobs to Bangor and 500 new full-time jobs to Brunswick Landing. Forbes recently reported that Wayfair is now the largest online furniture retailer in the U.S., with $6 billion in sales. The fund is a permanent endowment that supports projects and nonprofits that strength- en communities in the county.
