S P E A K E R S Katy Rand, Partner at Pierce Atwood, brings hands- on experience to her practice having worked in human resources and management in the private sector. Her client work primarily involves employment law, with a focus on discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage / hour issues. Katy helps employers avoid litiga- tion, counseling them on compliance and employee relations issues and, where appropriate, negotiating early resolution of disputes. She also has an active litigation practice, routinely advocating on behalf of employ- ers in state and federal court, as well as before administrative agencies such as the Maine Human Rights Commission and Department of Labor. E d M c Ke r s i e i s t h e Fo u n d e r a n d P re s i d e n t of LiveandWorkinMaine LLC, an initiative to increase awareness of career opportunities in Maine. The website and related efforts are focused on keeping young people in Maine, and marketing Maine as a career destination to job seekers around the globe – and to those already in the State. The website was launched in November 2105. He is also the Founder and President of Pro Search, Inc., a staffi ng and recruiting fi rm.
