WELCH CEO OF SAINT VINCENT HOSPITAL, WORCESTER MARKET CEO FOR TENET HEALTHCARE Residence: Marlborough Colleges: Rider University, Rutgers University As the head of one of Worcester's two largest hospitals, Welch leads one of the biggest employers in Central Massachusetts with 2,450 employees and healthcare provider for a wide range of area residents. at effort includes an eight-bed behavioral health wing of its emergency department opened in May. As market CEO of Massachusetts and South Carolina for parent company Tenet, Welch oversees seven acute care hospitals, including MetroWest Medical Center's Framingham and Natick campuses. Since coming to Central Massachusetts last year, Welch has been named to the board of trustees of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce and will be chairman of the 2019 Central Massachusetts Heart and Stroke Ball, in partnership with the American Heart Association. What advice would you give up-and-comers? Surround yourself with friends and colleagues who have positive energy, compassion, trustworthiness and great character. Hard work is critical to having a successful and exciting career. Great leaders lead by example, along with being good listeners. Treat everyone with courtesy, respect and a smile.
