Commander in the US Coast Guard Reserve Rotman is building a retail-and-manufacturing empire, leveraging his role in the 56-year-old family furniture business, which has sold more than $1 billion. Because of his role as founder and managing partner of NHS Holdings in Worcester, he in December was named CEO of latex manufacturer Vystar – of which NHS was the exclusive distributor – and then moved the Atlanta company to Worcester. Vystar in January purchased NHS for $971,000 and in May bought Illinois air purifier maker UV Flu Technologies for $975,000. "My hope for the future is to bring more synergies to each of these companies with a main objective to improve lives and the environment to the consumer," Rotman said. What advice would you give up-and-comers? Divide your life into five areas: country, work, health, family and community. Develop a passion within each of these areas where you can use your abilities to improve the quality of your life and the life of others. Knowing the right steps: I have a passion for choreography and dance. I spent 12 years choreographing a dance troupe in both New York City and locally.
