Tallan promotes women in STEM Glastonbury IT firm Tallan Inc. has selected and awarded its first- ever scholarship for a female high school student who intends to pursue a degree in engineering next year at the University of Connecticut. Golfers support Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters recently held its annual golf classic at the Golf Club of Avon. The event drew over 245 golfers and raised over $207,000. The fundraiser's objective was to move as many children as possible off Nutmeg's waiting list and into match relationships with adult volunteers. Movers & Shakers Robert J. Carr has been promoted to chief operating officer at Zuvic, Carr and Associates Inc., an engineering firm in Rocky Hill, Miroslav Grajewski has been promoted to vice president and Victoria L. Man has been promoted to director of environmental services. Carr will manage the company's day- to-day operations. He has served as vice president and principal-in-charge for environmental projects since joining the company in 2007 and managed one of the company's largest multidisciplinary projects. Grajewski will be responsible for business development and client relations and has served as a civil engineer since joining the firm in 2012. Man has served as senior project manager for environmental projects since joining the firm in 2009. In her new role, she will direct all environmental projects, manage staff and oversee the company's remediation activities. Antonio Rodrigues has been hired as a senior portfolio manager at Shelton- based Procyon Partners, an independent registered investment advisor. His client base includes high-net-worth individuals and families, corporations and nonprofit organizations, mainly in Connecticut. Prior to joining Procyon, he was a senior portfolio manager for Olson Mobeck Investment Advisors and People's United Advisors and was a senior member of the investment committee. Dr. Daniel Morganstern has joined Starling Physicians as a breast cancer subspecialist and Dr. Lawrence Giove will join the Starling oncology team in August. Morganstern comes from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where he spent the last 14 years in breast cancer, cancer genetics and cancer prevention. During this time, he also served as the clinical lead for the Women's Cancer Program inpatient service at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and co-founded the Breast Cancer Prevention Center at Dana-Farber. Giove will join Starling from training at Northwell Health (formerly North Shore-LIJ) in New York and will provide oncology care to patients in New Britain, Enfield and Wethersfield. Laurie Salzberg and Ann Marie C. Raymond recently joined the copywriting team at West Hartford's Bluespire Senior Marketing, which provides marketing services for senior- living communities. Salzberg brings years of ad agency and senior marketing experience, including time as an award-winning senior copywriter for Martino & Binzer, the agency from which Bluespire Senior Marketing emerged. Raymond has a varied communications background, with experience ranging from aerospace to health care, politics and finance. Paige L. Dinwoodie and Joseph Catalano have joined the management team of West Hartford-based Konover Residential Corp., a division of The Simon Konover Co., as regional property managers. Dinwoodie is responsible for nine properties totaling approximately 1,300 units in Bridgeport, Fairfield and East Lyme, as well as Croydon, Pa. She has 15 years of experience in residential property management, including market- rate, affordable and Section-8 housing. Catalano is responsible for nine Konover properties totaling approximately 1,800 units located in Manchester, Willimantic and New London, as well as Carol Stream, Ill., and South Bend, Ind. Catalano has nearly 25 years of experience in facility maintenance, property leasing and property management. David Zimmerman has joined Stanadyne, a global fuel-injection systems company based in Windsor, as its managing director of the Americas. A 30- year veteran in the automotive industry, Zimmerman will apply his sales management and operational expertise to expand Stanadyne's business throughout North and South America.
